A Network & System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting an organization’s IT infrastructure. The role includes configuring and monitoring networks, ensuring system security, optimizing performance, and troubleshooting issues across servers, hardware, and software. They ensure smooth connectivity, reliable system uptime, data protection, user access management, and implementation of IT policies. Administrators also perform regular backups, updates, patch installations, and assist users with technical support while maintaining documentation for all network and system activities.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain computer networks, servers, and operating systems.

• Monitor network performance and optimize system reliability and uptime.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot network, hardware, and software issues.

• Manage user access, permissions, and security policies.

• Perform regular data backups, system updates, and patch management.

• Implement and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and other security tools.

• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and organizational policies.

• Maintain documentation of network configurations, system processes, and changes.

• Collaborate with IT teams to support infrastructure upgrades and new deployments.

3. Required Skills

• Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.

• Knowledge of Windows/Linux server administration.

• Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and network monitoring tools.

• Troubleshooting and analytical skills.

• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.

• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure) is an advantage.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.

4. Educational & Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred).

• Certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, MCSA, or RHCSA add strong value.
