An Information Security professional is responsible for protecting an organization’s information systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role involves implementing security controls, monitoring systems for vulnerabilities, responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce information security policies and procedures

• Monitor systems and networks for security breaches or suspicious activity

• Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing

• Implement security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and antivirus solutions

• Investigate and respond to security incidents and data breaches

• Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2, etc.)

• Educate employees on security awareness and best practices

• Maintain documentation and incident reports

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and frameworks

• Experience with network security, encryption, and access control

• Familiarity with SIEM tools and security monitoring solutions

• Understanding of operating systems, databases, and cloud security

• Ability to analyze risks and troubleshoot security issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

• Relevant certifications such as CEH, CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ (preferred)

• Experience in information security or cybersecurity roles
