The Ecommerce Developer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing online stores and ecommerce platforms to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly shopping experiences. This role involves building custom ecommerce solutions, integrating payment gateways and third-party services, and ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and conversion optimization.

The Ecommerce Developer works closely with designers, marketers, and backend teams to implement features that support business goals, enhance customer experience, and drive online sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and maintain ecommerce websites and platforms

• Implement responsive, user-friendly storefronts and checkout flows

• Integrate payment gateways, shipping providers, and third-party APIs

• Optimize website performance, security, and scalability

• Troubleshoot and fix bugs, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities

• Collaborate with designers and marketing teams to implement UI/UX improvements

• Manage product catalogs, pricing rules, and promotions

• Ensure compliance with data protection, PCI-DSS, and security standards

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Experience with ecommerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce)

• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript

• Backend development experience (PHP, Node.js, Python, or Ruby)

• Database knowledge (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

• API integration and third-party service implementation

• Website performance optimization and caching techniques

• Version control systems (Git)

Ecommerce & Business Skills

• Understanding of ecommerce workflows (cart, checkout, payments, shipping)

• Experience with payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay, etc.)

• Knowledge of SEO best practices for ecommerce

• Conversion rate optimization (CRO) principles

• Familiarity with analytics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel)

Additional / Preferred Skills

• Experience with headless commerce and PWA

• Knowledge of CMS integration

• Cloud hosting and deployment (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Security best practices for ecommerce platforms

• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies
